Restore the Confidence of a Full, Natural-Looking Smile with Modern Dentures

Dentures are custom-made replacements for missing teeth that can be removed and placed back into the mouth as needed. Although it may take time to adjust, today’s dentures are designed to be more natural-looking and comfortable than ever before.

There are two main types of dentures: full and partial. Dr. Shore will help determine the right option for you depending on whether you need to replace all of your teeth or just a few. In some cases, dental implants can be combined with dentures to improve their stability, making them more secure for eating and speaking.

Types of Dentures

 Conventional Full Dentures

These are placed after all remaining teeth have been removed and the tissues have healed. Because healing can take several months, you may be without teeth during the period before the denture is fitted.

Immediate Full Dentures

Immediate dentures are placed right after the remaining teeth are removed. Dr. Shore will take measurements and models of your mouth in advance. While this option allows you to avoid being without teeth, adjustments are usually needed as your jawbone and tissues heal and reshape.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures replace several missing teeth and are supported by a metal or plastic framework that attaches to your natural teeth. In some cases, crowns are used as anchors. They are a removable alternative to dental bridges.

Snap-On Overdentures

These dentures “snap” onto dental implants or specially treated tooth roots, making them more secure and comfortable than traditional options. They can be removed easily but provide greater stability for chewing and speaking.

Are Dentures Right For You?

Full dentures are made with plastic teeth embedded into a gum-colored acrylic base. An upper denture covers the roof of your mouth, while a lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe to allow room for your tongue. Each denture is carefully crafted in a dental laboratory based on impressions taken by Dr. Shore to ensure a personalized fit.

Caring for Your Dentures

Dentures need regular care to keep them in good condition. Over time, they may require relining, rebasing, or replacement due to normal wear or natural changes in your mouth. To keep them lasting as long as possible:

• Handle them carefully over a towel or water to avoid breakage if dropped.

• Keep dentures moist when not in use by placing them in water or denture solution—never hot water.

• Brush them daily with a soft brush and water to remove plaque and food particles. Avoid toothpaste, which can scratch the surface.

• Clean your gums, tongue, and palate each morning before inserting dentures to stimulate circulation and reduce bacteria.
